Canada immigration · Provincial Nominee Program

Provincial Nominee Program when a province wants your skills.

Each province chooses some of its own immigrants. If your occupation is in demand somewhere, a provincial nomination can open a door that Express Entry alone would not. The trick is finding the stream that genuinely fits you.

Who a provincial nomination suits

Provincial rules change often, and streams open and close with little notice. We track what is open, tell you honestly when nothing fits yet, and keep your documents ready for when it does.

  • Workers whose occupation appears on a province's in-demand list
  • Applicants with a job offer from an employer in that province
  • Candidates whose CRS score is too low for federal draws
  • People with study, work or family ties to a particular province

Step by step

How Provincial Nominee Program works

  1. 1

    Match your profile

We compare your occupation, experience and ties with the streams that are open right now.

  2. 2

    Expression of interest

You register interest or apply directly to the province, following its own rules.

  3. 3

    Nomination

If the province selects you, it issues a nomination certificate.

  4. 4

    Permanent residence application

Enhanced nominees apply through Express Entry; base nominees apply to IRCC separately.

  5. 5

    Checks and decision

IRCC completes medical, security and background checks before deciding.

Paperwork

Documents you will usually need

Exact requirements depend on your case. We give you a personal checklist after your assessment.

  • Passport and civil documents
  • Language test results that meet the stream's level
  • Degree assessment where the stream asks for one
  • Experience letters matching the in-demand occupation
  • Job offer letter, if the stream requires one
  • Proof of funds and evidence of ties to the province

Questions

Provincial Nominee Program FAQs

Do I need a job offer for a PNP?

Some streams require one and many do not. It depends on the province and the stream, and the rules change regularly, so we check the current requirements during your assessment.

What is the difference between enhanced and base nomination?

An enhanced nomination is linked to your Express Entry profile and adds 600 points to your CRS score. A base nomination is processed outside Express Entry through a separate application to IRCC.

Can I live in another province after nomination?

You are nominated because you intend to live in that province, and that intention matters to your application. Planning to settle somewhere else from the start is not a good basis for a nomination.
